The Amazing Race BRS...Part 2B

Well, I said I would follow up the last posting with a continuation...
So here it is...

Last we found our travelers on a train ride from Milan to Lausanne...
We arrived in the evening, settled in and got ready for the coming weeks adventures!
First on the list of adventures was a train ride to Geneva for some exploring.
It was a beautiful day to wander around, see the sights and have a wonderful lunch at my favorite Italian restaurant in Geneva - The Gondola (Angi made mention she had never been on a gondola so I thought it was appropriate).

After a lovely day in Geneva we headed back to Lausanne to meet up with my husband for a delicious dinner at home. The next day I headed off for ceramics class and sent Angi & Rob off for an adventure on the CGN River boats and a day at Castle Chillon - they drank, they ate and they made merry!

Back together the next day we drove to the lovely town of Bern for a little Intellectual Fun!
When in Bern you must stop and take pictures with the mascot of the town...

After playing with the Bern Bear, we had a great lunch at Froh Sinn, an amazing little restaurant on the streets of Bern. After a great meal we met the owner/chef of the establishment - he told us the history of the restaurant and a really cool idea he had. In the restaurant he has a wonderful painting of a group/family having dinner - the people in the painting are all his employees and himself - what a wonderful dedication to a great restaurant and staff!
Great place for lunch!

Bern is an amazingly beautiful town north of Lausanne on a small river with a cute old world charm...

The colors were stunning!
The town equally stunning!

Well, I did say we had some 'Intellectual Fun'. Beyond it's beauty, great restaurants and fun shops - Bern is also the home of the Albert Einstein Museum - our next stop!

Amazing insight into the man,...

Time for us to leave Bern...first a beer...then a leisurely ride home.

Now for the 'Piece de resistance' - a little something I arranged for Angi, Rob and I.
Knowing that Rob & Angi have an affinity to all things Chocolate - I scheduled a class at the Callier Chocolate Factory by Gruyere. We were in for a day of 'Real' Hot Chocolate, Chocolate Mousse Three-ways and a tour of the chocolate factory...

Another wonderful day of eating, drinking and generally having fun!
On our last day we needed to leave the country...
Not far, just a quick boat ride to Evian France (the home of water...lol)

After a pretty full week, the three of us headed home to start packing for our journey to America the next day.
You may be asking where was Tom during our later journeys...
Well, he was actually in Paris visiting with his cousin Diane and her husband Bill. They were on holiday and in Paris for a few days so Tom decided to take a day and visit with them. I was sorry I missed that but they had a wonderful time and I was glad Tom got to see them.

Well, I think this is enough for Part 2 (and 2B) of the Amazing Race BRS...
Next up will be my adventures in Richmond and New York...

For now, we wish everybody happiness and health!
Love to all!
Ciao for now!

The Amazing Race BRS...Part 2A

Wow! And the hits keep coming...
I know it has been a while but the Amazing Race BRS continues...
Last I left you with our wonderful trip to London and Tom starting his 3 week journeys for work. Tom survived his travels to Jakarta, Seoul and Tokyo. Now it is time for a little fun...
Tom, Angi, Rob and I are all headed to Rome for a nice 4 day weekend. I arrived first on a Thursday night and everybody else was supposed arrive on Friday morning. Well, the best laid plans...
I got in as expected into Rome as did Tom. Unfortunately, Angi & Rob were delayed out of the US and didn't arrive until Friday afternoon and to their dismay without their checked luggage.
Would we let these little set backs dampen our spirits - Nahhhhhh....
Ultimately, Angi & Rob received their luggage, we had an amazing weekend, we stayed in a marvelous palazzo, we eat too much, we drank too much and we got to see some old friends. at the end that is what counted!
I guess the best way to show everybody our weekend is to just let you all see the photos...
Here you go, we will start with the palazzo:
In the wonderful Piazza Mattei...
...with the Turtle Fountain!

It was an amazing place found on AirBnB (by my love Tom). It was centrally located near Campo di Fiori and Piazza Navona. I was a relatively quiet neighborhood with a lot within walking distance.

As for, eating too much, drinking too much and seeing old friends...
I got see Zavan for a
great lunch at Antonino's...
Robert visited the palazzo a few
times for a glass of vino!

Spritz's at the Coloseo...
Cocktails on the Bernini Rooftop...

But, no trip to Rome would be complete without dinner at Fiora di Zucca with our extended restaurant family (Sabrina, Laura, Daniel & Marco (il morto))... A special thanks to them for a wonderful meal, great wine and the usual entertainment!

Then off to a little house-cleaning...

Then a walk around the Forum...

A trip to San Clemente...
...& the Bocca della Verita!

Lastly, a night taxi tour of Rome...
...and the Trevi Fountain!

After a wonderful time in Rome, it was time to board a train headed for Milan...then Lausanne!
Choo choo...Milan here we come!
Duomo of Milan!

Amazing history...
...& a ho (backhoe) in church!

Well, I think this posting is going to have to be a 2-part posting.
The train ride back to Lausanne was fun and after a nice lunch in Milan with a wonderful bottle of wine...very relaxing. We got back to Lausanne Mondat night and we all rested - getting ready for adventures in Switzerland (in part 2B).

On the home-front everything is wonderful and the weather here in Switzerland is still cool but very sunny!
Unfortunately, Tom had to go back to work while Angi, Rob & I got to play!
Ceramics is still going well. I finished the Pot I showed you in the last posting with some Blackboard paint. Now I can write on the pot with the herb name I have growing in it. I also finished an odd little pot to hold potpourri. Take a look:

Enough said for this posting -
More to follow!
Sending Love and the best of everything to all our friends and family!
Ciao for now
