Fa Freddo in Roma!

Fa freddo (In English means - it makes/it does cold)...
Which is exactly what it is in Rome! We have been hanging in the 40-50 degree area but we have not had sun so it has been extremely cold here. We have also been in the middle of a rainy period - it has rained 8 out of the past 10 days (at least it's not snow - though I would prefer snow).
Since it has been so cold and rainy I figured it was time to start decorating for the holidays! This past weekend Tom & I decorated the house and put up the tree. Over this past year we have collected many more new handmade Italian ornaments from the different places we have visited.
First let see the 'putting up of the tree'...
Our simple little tree...

...and now to decorate it!

Here are some of the additions to our ornament collection:
Assisi
Otrano - in Pulgia

Taormina in Sicily
The Beautiful Positano

Civita di Bagnoreggio
Bracciano (from the last blog)

Sorrento Seascape

Sorrento Santa (Babba Natale)

Lausanne Switzerland
Mount Etna - Sicily

And from our wonderful visit home to the states -

The Jefferson - Thank you Pat!
And a piece of the South!

Now I guess I should show you the finished product...

I was not the only one thinking of decorating for the holidays - it seems the Italians had the same thought.
The tree at Piazza Venezia
...at the Colosseo...

...rainbow lights...
...& hand carved trees!

Here are just a few misc... photos I took while walking around.
An Obelisk...
...a fun Moped (Vespa)

Pinocchio riding a bike!
Lastly, fun mailboxes!

Well, time to end this post - I am sure I will posting more of the Holiday Beauty of Rome as I wander the city.
On the home front all is good - today has been a little rough...we woke up to no heat or hot water. It seems our unit is, as the man told me, 'Caput'. He will be back tomorrow to fix/replace it... Fun, fun, fun...
Everything else is great and we are looking forward to the Holidays!

We wish all our friends and families happiness and good health!
Smile - Tis the Season!
Abbracci a tutti!
Ciao for now...
Ron & Tom
